Pushing Daisys Fashion

Pushing Daisies is now one my favorite shows, though i didn't watch it when it was on the air.
My husband saw it on netflix and told me i would like it, and he was so right. Anna Friel plays Charlotte “Chuck” Charles and she wears the cutest clothes, if you have a chance you should check it out, its a very cute crime solving show with sort of a fairytale feeling.

I want very much to make both yellow dresses, i just haven't found any fabric quite right yet.

This one shoulder yellow & orange floral dress is very much her style, you can check it out at my Etsy shop Morningstar84

Betty Draper Inspired Wiggle Dress

My inspiration for the Betty dress came from a bit of fabric i had in my stash, when i saw it, it just looked like her. But i didn't want to just copy her dress anyone can do that. I wanted something with her fashion sense, but a little more fun, so i added my own little twist. Here are a few pictures that i had in mind while designing.

Betty & Don Draper at dinner,
notice the brocade fabric of her dress.

The little bust bows on this dress gave me the idea.
for this,

The Halter Strap is Removable!

I made this dress with floral brocade and satin detailing.
When i saw this fabric i thought of Betty Draper but i wanted it to have a bit of a pinup spin, with the halter and bows above the bust, as well as the hip band. The vintage pin finishes it off nicely i think and it matches so well!
You can check it out at my Etsy shop.

Brigitte Bardot

Though not as famous as say Marilyn Monroe, she has the kind of sexy that is just a little bit more girlie and cute. for a full bio you can check out this site,

I had her in mind when i restyled these dresses, I think they look like something she would have worn.

The Teal Dress
http://www.etsy.com/listing/72100721/1950s-teal-silver-restyled-square-dance
it was a skirt and boat-neck top that i opened up the shoulder seams and added spaghetti straps, side dart and the satin midriff. I removed the waist band and regathered the skirt onto the new waist piece and put in a side zipper. I love the way it came out, it would make a great swing dance dress.

The Green Dress
http://www.etsy.com/listing/72097427/restyled-lime-green-and-white-square
This was just a vintage skirt that i made a eyelet bodice for. i took off the waist band and regathered it to the new top. hand beaded along the top edge of the lace.

Details: Patterns & Dresses

i love this dress it looks very Marilyn.
and some more patterns images i have on my computer, i don't remember where i ran across them though otherwise id post the links :-(

Vintage Sewing Patterns

These are just a few of the images of sewing patterns i have come across, many were already sold or far too expensive to purchase. i saved the images so that one day maybe i would get around to making my own pattern inspired from the picture. though at this point I'll never have time to make them all i just love the art work, i wish people still dressed like this.
